| Stairs add vertical dimension to a cake. It also allows for more, smaller tiers, that are easier to cut than large ones. Cakes with stairs have to be assembled at the reception site. Stairs can be combined with columns and with stacked cakes, and have to be carefully calculated for height, so that the stairs sit at the correct angle.
Cut a middle tier of the cake or the top layer at the end of the stairs for best looking pictures with bride and groom, then disassemble and cut layers separately. As always, save the top layer frozen for a first anniversary treat. |
